When asked what one of the hardest things about social life is as you get older, most people report that they struggle to make new friends.
Whether you’re looking to solidify new friendships or catch up with your old friends, a girl’s night out is a great way to unite your crew.
It can be challenging to plan a night out that checks off everyone’s boxes. Your crew is sure to have a mix of people who love to get wild and people who are more chilled out. You don’t want to make anyone do anything they don’t want to do, so you’ll have to plan carefully.
If you’re headed out to take on the city for a girl’s night out, consider these 4 tips to make your night fun and memorable.
1. Assemble Your Squad
Figure out which of your two or three closest friends would be the most fun together. It’s okay to introduce two people for the first time, just make sure their personalities would match.
Keeping your team to 3 or 4 means you’ll be able to stay mobile and won’t leave anyone behind. It’s also easier to get a table for four than for a larger number if you decide to get dinner or drinks.
2. Find Free Events
Take a look at local listings and Facebook event pages. See if there’s anything going on in the city on the night you plan to go out.
Depending on the season, you could have outdoor concerts, dancing, or outdoor movies where you could pack a picnic.
In some cities, there are free magazines like Time Out that list fun and free events that you could have fun with your friends at. If all else fails, try out a karaoke bar or a dance night at a venue off the beaten path.
3. Try a Makeover
Lots of makeup stores like Sephora and Origins give mini-makeovers and consultations for free. Make the night a little extra special by looking your best, just in case that one friend starts posting to Instagram after a drink or two.
Lots of department stores will also offer a free makeover with a small purchase. Start the night off right and ensure that no one shows up late when you all get to do your makeup together.
Take the opportunity to catch up new kids, new relationships, or get any and all breakup talk out of the way.
4. Happy Hours Are a Must
Keep an eye out throughout the week for advertised happy hours. Try out someplace you’ve never been before. It’ll be a lower stakes venture if you go out during happy hour.
Keep Your Girl’s Night Out Options Open
A great planner always has a backup plan. Make sure you’ve got some options in your back pocket. A place that looks great on Tuesday evening might be a whole different beast on Friday night.
Also, make sure everything is in close proximity so you walk between them and so no one has to drive in case you’re drinking.
